The recent press release about Tirzepatide (Mounjaro©), a weight loss drug has resulted in several requests for our GPs to prescribe it. Please note that GPs in Gloucestershire are currently unable to prescribe weight loss injections on the NHS until we receive further guidance from our Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board (GICB) and NHS England. GICB are working on guidance for wraparound supporting care to allow us to offer a complete service once we do start prescribing this and other similar medications. Initially, it will only be available through specialist weight management services for those with the greatest clinical need. Please do not contact your GP surgery about accessing this medication.
